| After I did the crappy egr chop and plug while installing headers, the car began running rich as hell. Plugged off vacuum lines and egr, no problem with plugs, injectors, distributor cap or anything obvious (at least I don't think so...). If the engine's still warm when I go to start it up, it bogs and I gotta gas the hell out of it until it starts and even then, I gotta stay on the gas until it finishes burning off all the excess fuel left from earlier/dumping/leaking in. Also, when driving, if I give it too much gas too suddenly, the engine near-stalls (used to stall on me all the time at red-turning-green). Ironically, it's an AT so... Diagnose/fix it and I'll toss you some cash money for your time and effort. Help a guy out! | |

| I have the same issue with my ka24e as well. took off all the emission and it runs so rich that I have to feather the gas to start it and you can hear it bog as it tries to start. I haven't had the problem with it stalling but If you come across anything please give some details I'll be doing some search in the next few days as well and If I come across something I'll let you know. thanks | |

Yeah- sounds like we got the same problem. I'll give you a heads up if I figure it out.

I see you bumped your own thread... I take it you're still having the same issues? Probably the very first thing I'd do is find out if the ecu is throwing any codes. You can either do that manually by watching the light on the ecu blink (pain in the ass), or by hooking up to a computer with the right cable and software. It almost sounds like the ecu has put your car in "limp" mode which causes it to run extremely rich, and limits your revs to something like 2k. Then again if you're able to drive it, that may not be the issue. When my MAF was malfunctioning it put my car in limp mode, and while I could start it, driving it was pretty much impossible, and it would flood out and die eventually even while just idling. I was also getting a light spray of unburnt fuel out of the tailpipe. A bogging issue like this unfortunately could be any number of things from a vacuum leak to an improperly set idle, to a bad injector or like my car, a malfunctioning MAF. At any rate, whereabouts are you located? If you're anywhere near Hanover Park, and can get the car to my house, we could at least check out what the computer has to say, and maybe do some other basic checks. Just note that I am absolutely NOT a mechanic or an expert on the ka24de. I just started tinkering with mine this past summer after it had been sitting in my garage for about 3 years with issues (which I now know were a dead fuel injector on #4 cylinder, and a malfunctioning MAF sensor) and now it runs fairly well again. But pulling the codes from the ecu doesn't take a brain surgeon (or mechanic), so I'm probably qualified for that part at least! PS: What year is your car?

| Heyo- my car is a '93. I've been able to drive it almost as if there's nothing wrong with it. By that, I mean it drives like it should in terms of revs and shifts but it bogs and runs rich, occasionally stalling out. I need to fix some other issues I'm having with the car but I'll get back to you asap on that offer for me to swing by your place. | |
