What does this sound like!!!

So i went to the meet, as all you know well everything was fine until we where on our way to montrose beach the i hit a bump A HUJE BUMP....then all of a sudden my oil presure died and then my oil light turned on and this huge noise came from my engine and there is no oil leaking whats so ever, then when i uncapped the oil cap i realized that there was no oil coming up to the cams but i drove the car to job which was a couple of miles from there and it felt normal except for that loud knocking please can anyone diagnose please.......

maybe you dented in your oil pan and the sump for the oil pump can no linger pick up any oil from the pan

check that, your car is low

that would be my guess.

spector hit it on the head....prolly damaged oil pickup. just a hint....any LOUD knocks are not good.

Yeah its loud havent gotten around to check it, hey would a single cam oil pump fit a twin???

i don't think so, the lower timing covers are different so i think that the pumps/sumps are different

I didnt think about that, well ill find out when i take off the oil pump....thanks specter. Its weird though cause it made it all the way home without a leak of oil im stumped???????

that's why i was thinking oil pump pickup. if you smashed the front of the oil pan where your pickup [sump] is then it could restrict the flow to the oil pump causeing the bearings to starve and then rod knock.

since your car is low, very low, and the part of the oil pan where the sump is is the lowest part of the pan/car. it's not a strech to think that a good bump would mash the hell out of the pan. this would not nessesarily cause a oil leak

Of course not im not that stupid if i did that why would i even be driving a car??? there is oil and there isnt a hole in the oil pan havent checked if there is a dent in it, what if it could be the timing chain tensioner???if anything im going sr if i need a new motor....

First of all, I didn't say you were stupid, but driving a car with low oil pressure is a very blonde thing to do.

Second - no oil leaks means its dented and/or the pickup is broken.

Third - SR's are even more sensitive to a dented up oil pan, but good luck anyway.

i rebuilt mine for $400

MUCH cheaper then an SR

I checked everything and there is no dent in my oil pan or anything they also told me it could be my timing chain tensioner but i figured that it would be undriveable if that was the case....

well... that is a posibility

however that is one HELLUVA co-ink-i-dink if it went out at the same time as you hit that bump.

since the timing chain tensioner is oil pressure driven [right off of the oil pump so if it looses pressure the oil leaks out there before getting anywhere else] that could be the problem

also let me through in the mix that it MIGHT also be the oil pump as well

regardless it looks like you need to pull the lower timing chain cover to figure this one out.

Yeah thats what i thought but wasent so sure??? Only time will tell well atleast i got a project now......

don't forget to replace all the bearings, and your cams are probably scored to hell form running w.o oil.

It almost sounds like you broke a rod. Does the knock get faster as the rpms go up?
