| So this forum is dead. Heres a lame update. As most of you know, I don't have a working fuel gauge, hence why I ran out of gas on the highway and missed almost our whole BBQ/meet in the spring. anyways, Kevin came to my rescue then, and he came to my rescue again and sent me this cool auto meter fuel sender thing. It basically involves taking a depth measurement in your tank and then adjusting the depth of the sender and cutting your float arm to a certain length. Started doing that. New vs Old. Surprisingly the non-symmetrical 5 bolt pattern on the auto meter unit matched the toyota pattern nearly perfect. The bolt spacing was dead on, but the toyota pattern had a tad bit larger bcd. I took the sender unit apart and used a small file to egg the holes out about 2-3mm on the mounting flange. Worked out well. [img] [/img] Then put it back together and installed. One of my allen bolts stripped taking the stock one out and had to be drilled, so that's why I'm missing a bolt. My car is on jack stands, so I haven't had a chance to go to a gas station and calibrate the STACK, but I'm psyched to have a working gas gauge for once. | |

| kind of a boring update, but its exciting for me. I found a buyer for my broken rear end and with the help of the chicago PR corolla dudes I was able to pick up the holy grail of rear end upgrades; a complete 1979 supra 7.5" rear axle. These things are virtually impossible to find, since mk1 supras basically don't exist. I also didnt pay a dime for it, and got a free hood out of the deal. I'm mega psyched about it. It was pretty rusty when I grabbed it and it still had all of the 4 links on it. Of course all the bolts were seized. got it back to sattys and started pulling it apart to assess the condition. These axles are beefy as fuck. supposed to be good for like 400hp! To our surprise, we found that the entire rear end was freshly rebuilt, all new axle, carrier and pinion bearings, and best of all? It has fresh and new 4.3 gears, which is going to save me a bunch of money. the calipers, though rusty look to be fairly new or freshly rebuilt. I was able to get the brake lines and bleeder screws out without too much of a fuss. Calipers without slide pins are strange. Got lucky and my dual drilled pinion snout from my old diff swapped right on, so no re-drilling will be necessary for my DSS driveshaft. installed extended studs right away since it was missing a couple. then put everything back together, removed the backing plates and brake hard lines and started going to town with a flapper wheel on my angle grinder to get all the rust off. Its starting to look pretty good. We have to do a few modifications to the housing, and then i'll paint it something fancy. It's basically a bolt in swap, I just need to make my Battle Version pan hard rod a little longer. We're also going to make some weld-on traction brackets for the lower links and it should be good to go. Other than that I'm going to buy new pads, rotors, stainless lines, a solid pinion spacer and new pinion and axle seals. | |

| yea, I got REALLY lucky finding this. Its also good that people pay out the ass for GTS parts, because I was able to find someone to pay $450 for my broken GTS rear end within 2 days of breaking it. Picked up this one for $400. | |

| Yea he's insane. I'm going to paint the housing gloss black with por15, but first we have to do some welding and shit on it like swapping the spring pads and making traction brackets. I want it to look brand new before I bother putting it in the car. | |

| A fb post about how long people have owned their 86's made me realize that I've had this car over 5 years now. That's over TWICE as long as I had my S13. In my head it always feels like I had my 240 forever and that this corolla is my "new car" I guess that's not the case. Anyways, that inspired me to do one of these. 2009 2014 2009 2014 2009 2014 2010 2014 What we have learned here is that camera phone technology has advanced incredibly in 5 years. Happy TBT, yall. | |
