| Concerning my old motor, I just saw this information posted by OTB on MR2spyder.net : - Quote :
- We have recently discovered that some of the Circuitworx oil pump gears from a recent production run are out of spec in some dimensions. The only problem reported so far by one customer is a noticeable noise from the pump and some visible wear to the oil pump gears themselves. At this time we don’t know how this issue might affect long term durability of the oil pump so we are urging you to either: 1. Inspect the oil pump gears that you purchased. The easiest way is to measure the lobe heights of the outer gear using a normal dial caliper (see peekshure™). Circuitworx does not have an exact tolerance for this measurement because it is a complex profile but normally variation in this measurement from lobe to lobe will be extremely small. We have measured this feature on a couple of bad gear sets and found variation to be 0.006-0.008” maximum which Circuitworx confirms is excessive and indicates the gear set is defective. If you find this to be the case then please proceed to #2.2. If you have measured your gears and find they are bad (or you are unsure) or if you are not able to measure the gears but want to make sure that they are good, Circuitworx has requested that you ship the gears back to them directly for inspection. If the gears are found to be bad then Circuitworx will ship a replacement set of gears back to you free of charge. If your gears are found to be good then they will ship the original set back to you, again free of charge. BE SURE TO INCLUDE A NOTE WITH YOUR RETURN SHIPPING ADDRESS AND PHONE # WITH THE GEARS. CircuitworxAttn: Rosemary821 Moore St. S.W.Ardmore, OK 73401USAPhone: (580) 226-0123Email: rosemary@circuitworx.com A new batch of gear sets is in production now and Circuitworx is estimating availability of the replacements at October 28. If they owe you a replacement they will be shipping it on or near that date. MWR apologizes for any inconvenience this may cause and unfortunately we have no circuitworx gear sets in stock so we will be waiting on the current production run like everyone else. Circuitworx has a long history of excellent quality and customer service and they have stepped up in this case to make sure that any problems are resolved. You may contact them directly or MWR with any concerns. Thanks, Matt @ Monkeywrench
Lobe height difference is as far as a 0.020". Tip to tip clearances between inner and outer gears measure 0.006-.0007" on the high ones. Looks like I will be claiming some money back. I am not happy. This has cost me about $1700 because of their product that is "out of spec". My new engine has started to have some chatter on start up, which I attributed to the thick oil. I changed it to 0w-30 German Castrol, and the sound is still there. Definitely worried about the new pump. Lets look back at the damage. Needless to say, Circuitworx will be receiving a call tomorrow during my lunch break to see what they will do for me. I will keep you posted.

| Added a low oil pressure warning light so it's more like a race car (or so I can actually see it when driving DD.) Programmed and triggered by my Stack gauge. Cleaned up the SW21's engine bay. Valve cover had a nice coating of grime. Intake had a PVC pipe and a clogged/rusty filter. Replaced it with a filter I had since my AW11. | |

| Figured I may as well have a nice steering wheel in the SW, so I put the MRS wheel in it. Also removed the discolored tint front the side windows and the top of the windshield. Also got the drivers seat to be adjustable again. | |

| SW20 has a blown head gasket. Also has a grinding transmission that I was going to just deal with. But since the motor requires a bunch of work, I'm going to swap this shit. Looking at a 3SGTE with a factory LSD trans. They go for around 2k shipped.
Chassis is clean as far as rust. Just needs fresh paint. Things are adding up, but I'd already take a loss on it if I tried to get rid of it.
Needed: Motor Trans Paint Trunk lock Trunk Release cable Tail light center panel (probably just do 94+ tails) Shifter Windshield Radio T-top seals
Fucking junk ass car. | |
