i decided ill show you guys what ive been up to.
stock
TRD replica header
installed
first CA240 meet with the MR-S
another of our meets
lowered on Espelir springs, stock shocks
better pics
car developed an annoying heat shield rattle. i found which one is causing it, but all the bolts are rusted off.
so i decided to pull my calve cover, paint it instead. while the paint was drying i checked out the spark plugs. they look GREAT! used, but not burning oil, running rich, or any signs of detonation. i also checked out the head while the valve cover was off. looks CLEAN! low miles + high detergent oil = happy motoring
anyway, heres my valve cover. before, it was just bare aluminum. i cleaned it up, scuffed it a bit, and layed down about 3 or 4 coats of color, and 3 coats of clear.
heres the clutch from the old motor. (which is compatible for the new engine/trans)
i fixed my rattle. the heatshield on the downpipe broke the welds, and was not coming off. so i bent it away from the welds and presto, no more rattle.
i got new OEM floor mats from JNZ. the ones that came with the car were cheapos and kept sliding up under the pedals. it made driving difficult. i also installed my Cusco shift knob that i had on my MK1 before.
i really hate borrowing cameras because i ALWAYS forget to change the ISO to something lower.
anyway, it was really foggy when i left work. so i came home and snagged my dad's camera
...wish they weren't so grainy
i found a really good deal on a Techno Pro Spirit roll bar. they list for $750 or so last i checked. picking it up in Tampa on the 17th.

Good luck on the build man. From what I've seen personally when tuned right these cars are something else on the track. Very fast entry speeds!

update! got the Techno Pro Spirit roll bar. i just need to source 2 brackets that you can obviously see where they go. (bolts the bar to the top belt mount location) picked up the bar last friday. then had to buy some tools to install it so i could close the top. 15 minutes later, and a gallon of sweat, it was done. i finished it up at mig's and some last things just now that im back in IL.
after 1800 miles, in florida
now after im back home

not much of an update, but the car is as prepped for winter as it is going to be. cleaned up some surface rust under the car, and cleaned up the suspension and what-not.
i also decided that the garage needed a TV with cable, so i grabbed a spare TV and hooked the cable up to it. i may stick my old PS2 in there, but it probably wont be played (too cold to hang out in the garage) id work better in the summer

not at all. maybe if it was all welded instead of bolted in
im leaning towards Advan RGII in 16x8 all around. staggered tires (205/45-16 and 225/40-16 most likely) or i might get the work meister s1 2pc and run a wider wheel in back. (8.5 or 9") maybe 16/17 stagger if i go with the meister s1
