| I'd agree if I touched that part. Just an unknown milage motor, and I took a gamble. Compression was about 200psi when I tested, but bearing life was unknown. | |

| So finding a decent condition short block is proving pretty difficult. Best I can do is a brand new OEM short block for $1775 shipped to me.
Used complete motors with like 80k are going for $2000 and no one wants to sell the block, plus I'd be going all the bearing clearances and shit that the OE short block has done already. Fuck.

| Just put your old motor back in, that way you can still drive your car around. | |

| I can rebuild possibly, but the cylinder walls have a coating, and the crank has a coating. If either of those are nicked, you can't machine them down. Less headaches just buying new or just redoing bearings and rings on a good condition one.
If I do pistons, I would have to sleeve the block. Which is why I didn't do it in the first place. It's like 2k+ to get pistons, rods, bearings, sleeves, and all the machine work.
I found a bottom end with 60k on it for 600 shipped. I'd re-ring it and change out the bearings. Probably going that route.

| Yeah, fastest way to be back on the road too. the 2GR V6 wouldn't be done until later this year if I went that route after parting the 2ZZ stuff. Toyota new block would be reliable and all brand new, but I really don't want to spend $1800 on it. This low-ish mile motor should be in good condition, and with new bearings and rings, I don't see why it can't last for at least a few years. I'll try to get opinions on a stock+ block lasting at 9000rpm. Lotus versions rev to 8500 stock, where as the Celica was 8400 in 00-01, and like 7900 in 02-05. | |

| Short block should be here Wednesday. I'm much too lazy to pull it all apart again though, so I may wait a week or two. Still have to order bearings, gaskets, and ARP hardware. Probably do that in 2 weeks since I have a wedding to attend to.
Not really motivated to work on this.

| good stuff. Glad you found a way to get this up and running again in a timely manner. If my shit blows right after I finish it, I fucking give up. The car will sit until I have dough for an f20c and full chassis harness haha | |

| Yeah, I really wanted to go with the Camry 3.5 V6, but the down time would kill me. Coupled with the frustration and annoyance of trying to sell parts at a minimal loss to fund buying all the new ones I'd need... not going to happen anytime soon.
If I do anything else, I will end up hacking up a lot of this car and sticking in a motor with a transaxle sticking out the rear (Read: big motor with at least 1 turbo). I'd build a stupid car that would put me miles in debt. Probably better that I just stick with what I have.
In case you were wondering about that 3.5L V6; 295whp 275wtq, stock motor with I/H/E. 360whp, 325wtq with a TRD supercharger at 3.5psi. It is now making 415whp with a smaller pulley. Not bad for a internally stock motor. Oh, and the motor itself sells from scrap yards for roughly $2k.

| What does that mean, if I may inquire? My motor has been spewing various chunks of metal from every orifice for years.
