| finally got the head off (after obtaining the correct, 12mm triple square bit) Block looks pretty good. You can see the MMC coating (all aluminum cylinder walls) which is supposed to strengthen the walls and provide a low friction coating Yup, needs new valves. | |

| I pulled off the oil pan, and was greeted by part of the girdle that came with it. It was a small corner that was by the oil pump. I'll have it welded back on by my coworker.
Oil that was in there was all milkshake'd. So I think this motor suffered from a BHG... or something. Could be cause for the leakage as well as all the coolant everywhere. I didn't have time to pull the girdle/rod caps off to check the bearings.
But, I think at this point I will be doing a full build. I'd hate to do all the work to the head, just to have the bottom end fail. It would also give me peace of mind.
Sorry no pics. I can snap some next week.

| What would be the benefit of high performance valve stem seals as opposed to normal valve stem seals? | |

| It's more in regards to what materials are used in the high performance valve stem seal as opposed to a valve stem seal you would buy at Autozone. I don't see any benefit besides not sheering at higher rpms causing engine problems. | |

| Ordered:ARP Head Studs Supertech Valve Springs Supertech Ti Retainers Oh, and good news; my bearings look ok Just some normal wear. (jounal #2 has some oil on it, so it looks worse than it is) This motor had a BHG too as proven by the milky oil. I'm just glad the bearings are fine. | |

Ive been debating getting either their springs or Tomei's Nope, through work for a good discount. I'm too cheap to change the bearings. They look fine, and it saves me money. When it dies, I'll redo the bottom end with better pistons, rods, and bearings.
