| Hey, i was thinking about putting a sr20det in a s13 convertible i found a shell with Silvia front, body kit, coilovers, 17's ect... its really nice but i just dont know if i got enough cash money the guy said he would take 2300 for it but i was thinking if i got it for 1800 then get it shipped to my house for like $600 thats 2400 then i found some sr20's on ebay for about 1700. thats about 4100 then i would have to have it installed and after buying all that i would only have about 400 of 500 dollars left to get it installed so what do you guys think would be a fair price to expect for the installation? Thanks, Dominic | |

| Ok, for that price, im assuming the "body kit" is some ill fitting ebay shit, the coilovers are probably some ebay sleeve type shit, and the 17s are probably some knockoff 17x7 +40 shit. All of which are worse than stock. That sr from ebay is probably going to be some piece of shit redtop that sat upside down in a junkyard by the sea for years. The installation will run you between 800 and 1000 for most places. Also if its a vert, its probably auto, so youll need all the bits and pieces for the manual swap and the install price will go up accordingly.

| Looks nice except for wheels, all in all SR are expensive instalation is also hard to do and it will definitelly put dent in your wallet if not done by you, not to mention you want an exhaust and probally a front mount, and boost controller to go with that, so its better to have a bit of extra cheddar for mods like that..............Or worst of you get a bad SR then your really fucked!! | |

| ok thanks for the input guys and i also just got a shipping quote for the car for $375 so add about 225 to what i would have to install or buy a better sr20. and also do you need to know a lot about the nissan engines to do the swop? because i know some guys at a Napa tools shop that gives us a real good deal on all the cars that they work on for us. | |

| ur 16 and hopping on the 240 bandwagon. good job ur gonna fail cuz theres alot of costs you don't know about.
when i was 16 i had lists of plans and shit i was gonna buy for the car, 4 years later i still haven't accomplished 1/2 of what i was planning to do.
so my advice to you would be buy urself a daily driver, leave it the fuck alone, and save up for a house or someshit

so my advice to you would be buy urself a daily driver, leave it the fuck alone, and save up for a house or someshit Haha........fucking Pawel. Anyway. The car is cool man. Get good wheels and ditch the shit color and it would be rad. Just dont be a fucking fanboy and rice it up. Its a crazy deal. My serious advice to you is buy this or another s13. Doesnt matter if its stock. And leave it ka for a long time. Do some other mods and learn your shit. Fuck an SR. Make it look rad and handle like a lotus. THEN, when your ka is on its last breath, MAYBE, look into sr.. IF you bought this car, just buy it and keep it that way for awhile. Relax on the mr. drifter turbo SR shit. It costs alot. I wanted a simple SR swap for awhile... 3-4 years later,im barely doing it. I enjoyed my car much more looking and handling rad with no power, than being a homo with power and a piece of shit looking and handling car. That shit is for gays. NOW im finishing up SR, i was planning on 2500-3000 for it. As of today, im over 4k into it. So yeah, chill on the power hopes. Learn your shit. I always say that and nobody seems to do it. LIKE HOW TO SPELL "SWAP".

| I think that if you don't know how to work on a car, then you shouldn't be buying this. Start out by gettin a stock 240 and drive it for a while. Get used to how it feels. Ya have to crawl before ya walk, pal! All your plans are great, but if you don't know squat about a car, then this is not the best laid plan. There is a lot to take into account when ya get a 240. Including gettin a DD for the winter. The car is rwd so its not too good in the snow. Not to mention that they rust fairly easy, especially with all the salt the city drops!
But hey, were not your mama....if you wanna do this then f*ck it!
I built my Sr'd s13 for roughly $6.5k minus labor! (all labor was done by me)
Mind you, the mods were just basic. All prices below are no tax included.
1991 Nissan 240sx (rust free Atlanta car) $2000 SR20det complete swap (motor, trans, smic, maf, harness, ecu, and all piping) $2500 Ebay Fmic w/piping and HKS blowoff $350 Wiring harness conversion $100 Used Sportmax 18" wheels/tires $500 Stance Basics $1000 VLSD $100
This list of course does not include all the minor bull sh*t that I had to replace on the car like brakes, brake booster, clutch master cyl., slave cyl. etc, etc....
Might wanna take Adikt's advice and get a DD..... Just my opinion, son.....Unless ya gots deep pockets, I would say stay away!

| that is really true...i dont care how much aftermarket stuff is on there, but if its all ebay/ or just non brand things...ahhh id be iffy..or at least lower the price ..but it looks damn good lol ..oh and that other guy said is true, when i was 16 (only almost 3 years ago) i didnt know about half the costs...having a 240 is a money pit ha. - Team D*star! wrote:

| My current sr project has no body lit or paint job and is already at past 15,000.00 with me doing all the wrench work. If you insist on doing a swap get it local test it and make sure you get every last nook and cranny that is needed for the swap. Only a moron would do upgrades to an sr before even having cranked it up in the car. Basic swap engine plus little things here and there expect to spend 5000.00 unless you picking stuff up of shady ebay quality. You can always post your questions here if you run into any problems. | |
