Alternator/Battery Problem????

ok well, im having problems with my electrical? a few years back i changed my alternator cause my old one just died and left my ass in the hot ass california heat, anyways ever since then my battery light has been on, drives me nuts, i said screw it imma see why the hell, so i disconnected the battery cables and the car kept running so i cleaned a few ground spots and still nada when i give it gas the battery light dims but doesnt turn off checked the fuse it's good, i've put two new different batteries in the last two years to see and still, i even grabbed the battery charger from the garage and turned it on and the light still stayed on, does anyone know what the hell it could be?

by the way i have an '89 piggy SOHC

so there is nothing really wrong except the light?

How is the tension on the alternator belt?

Yeah mine does the same thing. When metering it with my multimeter at times it drops down to maybe 12.9-13.3 volts and that's the reason the light goes on. Mine is also on all the time but i've never had any issues. It's my daily driver. It definltely means there is an internal issue with the alternator but in my case it's liveable with.

my ass hasn't even checked the tension on the belt lol i'll check it tomorrow morning while i wash her up
