I'm just testing waters. I have a 1984 745i 5 spd turbo. $3k OBO, or trade for s13 coupe or s14.
-188k miles on the car; head job, turbo, exhaust, front/rear suspension, etc.. only have between 4k and 40k miles. Trans was put in with clutch under 40k miles ago. I do not know how many miles are on the trans but know it has redline MTL fluid.
-Converted to a manual transmission some time in the past with what I believe are 733i parts. It all works, but 3rd gear Synchro grinds unless you know how to work it in. I know how to work it. The trans is the less capable 260/5, I Will include a good used 260/6 trans but I am not sure if it will fir the current driveshaft. I was told there is an aftermarket clutch, but have no way to verify this other than the heavy pedal.
-Brown Buffalo interior, it is the executive model with the Becker tape player and radio controls in the back seat. The driver seat has wear, and a worn thru spot on the rear portion from getting in and out, but the seat is still comfy for long trips. The rear seats are still in what I consider great shape. Lots of leg room for your VIP guests. The passenger front power seat does not function, I have spares I will list below.
-original color of the car is Delphin grey, although it looks to have been resprayed and this should not be too much concern because I have replaced the front fenders with what look like Polaris silver units due to RUST.
-The dash is mostly in German except for the US spec speedometer and trip computer.
-The Becker radio works, has short wave capabilities and such. the volume knob seems to be malfunctioning. Once you know how to use it, it works just great. the rear controls are like new and work flawlessly. The front and rear speakers are aftermarket units. the rears are Pioneer 4x6 (don't hold me to the exact size) but those were the most recent addition to the radio. The fronts are kenwood or something similar and expensive. the whole system doesn't boom like these new cars, but it works well enough for oldies and rock. The antenna is always in the up position.
-There are a few aftermarket gauges in the car. A previous owner installed these gauges along with some other tasteful mechanical upgrades. There is a VDO vacuum gauge, VDO oil pressure gauge (never fully installed), VDO Exhaust Gas Temperature gauge, and most recently installed by me is an Wideband 02 setup made by AEM. It is the analog unit, and works very well. All gauges are installed below the ash tray in the car. They do not scream out GAUGES!! to a thief which is nice IMO.
-All power windows/locks work, sunroof works. They all kind of move slow, so no telling how long they will last. Assume all electrical motors are from the original car.
-Trunk is huge! There is not much rust back there which is good. Spare tire is in place, all carpets are there, full toolkit with green handled screwdrivers (somewhat rare)
-I have all the original owner's manuals in German including radio info, etc...
-The engine is the strong m106 with a slightly recent head gasket replacement and refresh (at this point, the job was done around 40k ago). All is working well with no issues. The Turbo was also refreshed at the same time. Unfortunately, I have no records of this work other than speaking with the guy who worked on the car a few years back.
-performance modifications include a modified stock wastegate that is adjustable, Larger fuel injectors, Cartech FMU, and a Chip installed in the ECU to be rid of issues with overboost. There has also been a modification to allow the ECU to function with the manual transmission. The performance work was done by a gentleman named Steven Cotsirilos some time between 2002-2005.
-full 3" exhaust with flowmaster muffler.
-BBS rear rubber spoiler. Just recently installed and in great condition.
- BBS style 5's 17x8 +20 all around
The rear diff is still strong and has limited slip, but I do believe the rear axle shafts should be changed sometime in the future (slight clicking on turns when there is weight in the car)
-The rear SLS has been removed from the car and conventional shocks/springs replaced them. I would also recommend the rear shocks be replaced.
-Both front Strut inserts have been replaced within the last 6 months with NEW KYB units.
-Fuel pump (main pump) and fuel filter have about 4k miles on them, new fuel hoses were installed between fuel tank and pump and then pump to lines.
-New BMW fuel pressure and return steel lines will be included but not installed. They are completely UNNECESSARY. NO LEAKS. The PO bought them, I saw no need to replace the lines but I kept the parts anyway.
-100 liter (euro only) fuel tank has been replaced in the fall with a clean Southern Californian OE part with NO RUST. BIG$
-BOTH Front 4 piston calipers were new when I got the car along with new BMW front metal lines. The car is running ATE super blue brake fluid.
-EURO headlights, Euro bumpers (rear is new), fog lights in place, but not functioning.
