5th gear hates me for some reason D:

Ok so I was driving around like a grandma like usual and when I shift into 5th it falls back into neurtal.. It never did anything like that before and I'm not on a ebay short throw or anything. But yeah now I have to hold it in 5th if I take my hand off it will just fall into neutral. Its almost like its not going in all the way. Its a 13 Sr stock trans with a 6 puck and hd press plate if that matters...
Any ideas??? I know nothing about transmission.. Synchro? is that even spelled right?

But really I think I am in need of some fixins on this thing. I probably need a synchro or something? I really don't wanna drop this trans again. Not when its this cold. Anyone know if a KA tranny would work with the SR bellhousing? That sounds cheaper than a new SR trans

Yes, ka trans works with sr bellhousing.

The gear ratios are a little different, but you may not even notice.

Use Google next time dude... im sure it would have taken you less then 30 seconds to find out.

Thanks boss. I'm in no rush to figure it out anyways, just wanted opinions cause I would really like to avoid fixing this right away. I wish it just needed oil or something. Its way too cold for my skinny ass to be crawling under this thing again haha but thanks again.

Damn you got the ratios and everything! The ka seems like its only slightly different. Final drive is the diff correct? Cause if Im using a stock welded and go back to ka ratios it will be a little wider again. I think I like the ka's wider gear ratio. I may try this. How much power ya think it would hold?? I am somewhere around 300 I've been told.

KA trans will hold that no questions asked.
Im pretty sure SR trans is weaker than KA

Yeah that's right, I totally forgot peeps use ka-t setups that put out way more power than me and hold just fine. I think I'll be doing this soon. Thanks for giving me the idea in the first place Mike

i got a single cam trans. Not sure of the condition but i was told it shifted fine. 60 bucks. 4got to mention has no clutch fork. but lmk if interested

sr cars came with 3.3 final drive? holy shit that SUCKS... I dont know if I believe that. I've never heard of foreign diffs having a different fd than US ones.

That is bizarre right? I think some of them do have a different fd but that's way too different. It's gotta top out at like 200mph and take 3 days to get there. Can't be right. Or it just sucks ass for them

All ka trans are mechanically the same. All S13 ka trans are identical and the only difference between s13 and s14 trans would be sensor's.

iirc trucky had to cut off a small metal tab/notch/whatever the fuck from a single cam trans to make it work on his twin cam KA.

Doubt it. My trans came from a single cam junkyard car. Worked on both of my previous kade's. Unless that's the reason both of my old motors pissed on my face. Haha
