i hate to contradict on driving technique... however that is only good on slippery surfaces when you are trying to avoid [i.e. dodge] an accident... and another thing for the record; ABS does not make you stop any faster then non ABS cars. in fact ABS takes a greater distance to stop then non ABS cars. this is a common missconception about the ABS system. ABS is designed to let you maintain control in a "panic stop" situation allowing you to steer around the object. in terms of brute stopping force non ABS cars have the advantage of being able to lock all four wheels and use the maximum coefficient of friction of the tyres to stop the vehicle. the question you should have asked James was, "how bald were your tyres?" | |
