| lol yeah go ahead shave them on the cam journals.... theyll flop all around in your shit. no the guy completely fucked me. on them. said they were almost brand new but he torqued the fuck out of his cam caps to do this shit. he lives in south florida tho i think i might take a road trip.
theyre scratched on 4 of the journals in about .011"-.015"th of an inch and 2 journals on the other. not even close to worth smacking into your head.

| you know you can take cams and have them spray welded and reground straight, right?
I had to have one of the HKS cams in my old SR repaired after it practically welded itself to the head and ground the journals down to nothing. Its working perfect in simon's car right now.
I only paid like 80 bucks for 1 cam.

| I took it to the local machinist guy that's done all my past engine work, but he sent it off to some other shop that had the equipment to do it.
basically what they do is put the cam in a lathe and turn it, while spraying molten steel over the journals that are damaged to build them up, afterward they re grind and polish them to the proper specs.
I'm not sure if this method works on the cam lobes (since they arent round), but it works on the journals..

I'd assume any machine shop should be able to give you advice on repairing them. The guy I go to has been building motors for hot rods and stock car/circle track teams for YEARS so he's pretty resourceful...

| I would go local first. It would be a lot less of a hassle since I'm at school most of the time. I'm sure there are machine shops in IL that can help you out | |
