Looking broken = awesome? I can understand some of the trends... kits/flush/low etc... but so much camber the car looks like it is slowly turning into some future hovercraft or james bond water bound (wheels as jets) car?
Looking cool comes first, alot of people dont want to spend a bunch on money on motor crap or a fancy cage, they rather fake the funk...some flush wheels, full aero, coils, diff, and a decent paint job....BAM!!! ur looking fly, and putting in work at all the local events.... Its better then having a tall and sunk ass, 2871r powerd car.... plus snapping neck is the jams!!!

If you need a "stylish" car to get attention... you are doing something wrong.
A car is a device built for transportation... and certain ones have the ability to fully capitalize on that aspect and do it REALLY well... ie: fast. So why do the showy attention craving route first? It's like spending 300 bucks on ripped jeans... congrats. Or wearing in a good pair on your own like a man :p
Cars turn/go/stop. Enhancing that has always been a priority to me, probably because I started wrenching on cars after college years... so I skipped over the entire HS popularity etc.. bs.
As always, this route goes to the agree to disagree route. I just will never understand why people spend time focusing on looks... it isn't a canvas or a lump of clay... its a car. It goes Vroom.
Nachtmensch whatever

yes, but what brings satisfaction when you go into the garage? plus comments on the car is always nice. an ugly car that performs better isnt as interesting to me.
of course, i do like a balance of it all. but looking cool comes first.

really it is a canvas, it expresses your personality through it just like any piece of art.
I can look at truckys car and see that hes a drifter and "gets it" i can look at a pile of shit with a fully built sr thats riding on stock suspension and 7 spokes and i just think " what a waste"
this doesnt mean im against high horsepower etc.. im all for performance, its just not my main goal.

we build drift cars homie, and i dont know about you. but last time i checked drifting wasnt about performance or speed. its about style. i dont care if your car has 500hp out on the track. if it looks like a piece of trash no one is going to care. Its ok if you dont get it...
here you go mr. race car driver

speed is sexy.
there i said it. any style that is performance-oriented on a performance car is hott.
i.e. aero that improves aerodynamics, wider wheels that HELP traction and handling......
not 30 degree camber cuz it "looks cool", but 3* camber cuz it will help you take corners like a champ.

i had a big post here but fuck it. this is a quote that sums up drifting to me.
Akinobu Satsukawa (au bo moon/burst) 4 door r32
"I've been Shakotann(low ridding cars) for 10 years but still don't understand the concept of roll-center. What i worry is how my car sounds and how my aero comes off....."
thats sums up drifting for me, and i can relate to that, so thats the reason i enjoy drifting.

This will just have to be the agree to disagree. Since it appears that drifting (which apparently "we" all do here) has nothing to do with cars and everything with pieces of flare. Last I checked there is nothing stopping a 240 from being used as a race car or simply a fast car. It has a stable platform, nice factory steering angle, good swaps for easy power, good aftermarket.... so why should the one guy above "go buy a race car"?
I'm sorry I'm not from the same group of buddies or HS or whatever it feels like this forum sprang from. I joined a site that was Chicago 240sx's, not drift 240s or chicago drift.
I picked up my 240 to make into a 2009 grassroots motorsports challenge car... so it must autox/drag and look good all in one. I can care less if someone wants to just drift, but JUST concentrating on how a car looks = show car... and those are a sad sad waste of a car TO ME.
I'll close with I'd prefer to play hockey vs figure skating. and <-- doesn't need car compliments, or necks snapping, or style points, just likes to wrench, talk shop, go really fast on track, and to me true function creates form (in cars at least)

Taka, that isn't exactly a fair comparison. :p We aren't exactly starting out with R32s... so really he starts with performance... and then adds some of his personality at the end of the process.

haha true, Ill give you that. but no there not show cars because they obviously get the crap beaten out of them.
its just a different mindset. I know your into grassroots motorsports thing and i think thats awesome, because its something most all of us here can relate to, (90% of us are ballin on a budget) but like i said, drifting is all about flair, if grassroots motorsports challenge judged you on your looks as well as performance you would concentrate on it also. but yeah agree to disagree.
Im spending 2800 dollars on wheels and putting a KA in my car this season.

I dont think so ecko, edgar is always for looks over power, and he has driven street hard ass fuck!!! in a 90hp ka, and put in work....
But as it stands, people will always wonder how u where able to tuck -40 on stock metal, and wonder how u even get over bumps, rather than looking like a 4x4 and people being like oh wow! i can see his radiator (cause most people dont even know what an FMIC is).... Most people on here have a balance of both, but most just want an SR cause they think it will allow them to drift, when really all that power makes it even harder to control a car...there is plenty of guys that drive on the street with just a ka and are way better than guys with SR's. and i think these pics will speak for themselves, Roskis car is a street car, low ass fuck, flush as fuck, and it has single cam KA!! and it still does work in the street and the track...
Id rather be the guy with flush ass wheels, insane aero, balling paint, BUT.....i got a 90hp ka doing work!!!! Plus im mexican i love shinny things!!! homes!!
