Alrighty then, here's the scoop.

back in the summer i picked up a 92 240sx with a redtop sr20det. The SR was rebuilt by Touge Factory last November with CP pistons, Eagle rods, and the crank was knife edged and balanced. This is all in addition to a GReddy intercooler, boost controller, turbo timer, Blitz blow-off valve, and an A'pexi SAFC-II.

every so often, it would run like crap. It almost died at idle, the Air to Fuell gauge on my car read REALLY lean and the engine felt really bogged down. I pulled off the iacv and cleaned it out and the idle problem was solved, my Air to Fuel gauge reads stoich but not the bogging down problem remained. At this point it was still only every so often.

well now for more than a week strait it had been running like crap. I hate it. My car runs like crap. I had to raise the idle to 1300 just to be able to get around town.

the turbo system is working, it spools up fine and the blow-off valve works fine. The knock sensor on the SAFC reads zero when I'm driving around town but if i go on long trips it can creep up to 30 or so(that was a long trip.) When i bought the car the previous owner said it needed a new MAF which i still haven't been able to get. It also needs to be tuned but AMS has a 2 month waiting list and I still need a few parts before I head to Palatine to get it tuned.

My question is what is the problem I'm having? Do i need a new MAF or do I have a tuning or timing problem?

PLEASE HELP! i almost got beat by a trans am on the highway(miraculously it ran fine for 2 days or so) so I'd like to keep future defeats to minimum.

if it was a timing prob ur motor would idle really loud and u can hear it... i had that .... but now all gone... prolly is a MAF... cuz my car is runnin Lean as FU*K and it's basically a stock swap. i'm pickin up a SAFC (neo or II not sure which) and that should solve the A/F and i might have to get a JWT ecu.

alrighty so i got the kink worked out.

it just so happens that through road vibration or some other means a bolt for the fuel rail electrical ground came loose. One ground to the intake manifold had a loose bolt and the other was completely gone(i.e. ungrounded) so now we got that all squared away.

but now i have crappy all seasons on the car. boooooo.

anywho, next season it's gonna tear ass. I finally put a list of future mods together so stay tuned(ahahahhahahaha, no pun intended).

until then, if you see a red s13 hatch in new lenox driving like a grandma, thats me. peace homies.
