who has good paintshop rec

like the title says. where in chicago can i get a cheap but good looking paint job

not HQ Kustoms.

I had a bit of a problem w/ the prep they did to the car and a missing part from my car. but, after I got a wetsand/buffed it looked good


Tylers friend recently brought his crx in... it took 6 months... and when he got it back the intake was missing/stolen, and the car was running horribly (after he put a new intake on). When he brought it to the shop, the car ran perfectly.

Dee is correct. VERY unprofessional. we're trying to diagnose the problem right now. i'll see if i can snap some pics.

car ran perfect when he dropped it off......... 6 MONTHS AGO
anyway. we went to pick the car up yesterday. first thing we notice... intake is missing. ok, awesome. second thing... engine runs like shit. awesome. i really dont understand how thats possible considering the car WAS mechanically perfect when he dropped it off.

Maaco/Earl Shieb I have heard can do a decent job if you do all of the prep work. Clean then block wet sand the entire car down. Fill or pop all the dents and imperfections. Adhesion promote and prime the bumpers or areas down to raw plastic. All they are going to do is lay the paint and clear it. You may have to go back an buff it but what do you expect for a few bills.

I just got my car back from a body shop to the tune of 1.7k...it was worth every penny.

I know that there are many shops that say a full paintjob is 4k

by that, they mean that they take off all trims, gaskets, etc. and paint the whole car including jambs

I remember that there was a bodyshop on elston and central (east from central on elston, right next to the coletti's) that quoted me 2k for a full job. Try them too.

my car was done at maaco. PM user LeMoine, he had it done when he owned my car.

ive thought about maaco. does it peel. how long has it been since it was sprayed

earl shieb actually does some pretty good body work and they dont tax an arm and a leg for it. but their prep work isnt anywhere near the best. but its a pretty good paint job for a really cheap price with a lifetime warr.

man there's one by my house. ill check them out. there not shady are they. my cuzin car got stolen after he got it painted

Why not? its your car, as long as prep is done right, I don't see the problem.

You must deal with some lowlife "I paint your car for $230" kind of people.
Anyone who would turn down a simple spray job is an idiot. Laying down paint is easiest part.

i guess they didn't want there paint on someone's prep work.
they said they didn't want to ruin there rep.

they even quoted me like 5k for everything

not sure when it was sprayed, but around the antenna its starting to peel. there's some paint drips on the front bumper but other than that, maaco did a better job than i expected.

not sure but like i said u can PM user LeMoine he had my car before me and got it done. I think he said something like 800 but i ain't 100 percent sure.

naw man im new put up a pick..

ill tell you what dood, "cheap" and "good" do not belong in the same sentence when it comes to paint.

i learned my lesson from getting "the good deal"

Now I need to get paint too, I don't need it for a while but ill be back in Chicago in October and thats about the time im looking to paint.

so who knows a good place that can spray candy paint and wont take 6 months to do it?

yah i know. i just don't like droppin cash for cosmetics. i just want a solid color that looks ok from a dist and minor blemishes close up.

shit cost me like 350 it was the presidential special. It came out decent but they are horrible at prep work and masking when i got it back they had sprayed all on the inside of my sunroof and there were runs in the paint that I made them buff out but for 350 you really cant beat the price.

oh it was 800 somthin with the body work that had to be done cause the qp was bashed in but uhh it was sprayed the week of christmas.
