Anyone know how to weld?

So im trying to patch up rust spots on my car



THis is me stabbing the rust wound with a screw driver


im planning on sawzalling the cancerous rust off
How hard is it to patch up these holes with sheet metal and a welder?

or

Can anyone weld these pieces for me (i will pay of course)

Ur going to need more then sheetmetal to replace ur frame rail.

Box tubing is where its at.

I'll be re-doing my frame and strut towers this winter.

it might not be called Box tubing. But it's basically just square stock that u bend/form around to the rail u need. It's what frame rails are made out of.

Not sure on cost.

i'd charge $50 an hour plus parts and the rental fee for the welder [don't have one plus lugging it to you if i had one is a bitch]

what kind of welding do you do for frame rails? mig, tig, arc?

mig is fine.
it's not stainless or Al that you'd care about how pretty the welds are.

Actually the differece between Mig and Tig is not how pretty the welds are.
With Tig you have better control but also better penetration (thats what she said!). Sorry couldn't resist!
