Dumbest question that I can't remember the answer for. What the fuck issue makes a car smell like fireworks or gunpowder? (besides drivebys) NOT sulfur, fireworks, burning smell. I remember this happened in some previous shitbox I've owned while it was having some problem. But there has been too many problems and shitboxes to remember which one it was.

It's not my car, so I need to actually fix it. Completely stock IS with coils and a muffler delete. Had slight misfire and that smell. And I can't for the life of me, remember what that fucking means.

Any ideas?

Shitty welds on muffler delete? Exhaust fumes?

Muffler has been this way for a long time. Cat could be a possibility, but idk if that could be related to it having trouble starting and running a little rough. All these things happened at the same time.

The two could very much be related. Plugged cat would cause both problems.
