ok heres the thing, im not sure, but i think that i need a timing chain replacement. i heard that all the ka's make a sound that comes from that area is there any way to fix it? does anyone know?

the upper timing chain is do-able
if it is the lower one then you have to pull the engine... there really is no other way

probably the timing chain guide. the chain is meant to last the life of the motor. it's not like a timing belt
if so, just remove it. nissan actually doesnt make the top guide anymore because it is not needed
if it still ticks it may be your valve lifters (or maybe that was a sohc problem only)

Uhh.... welcome to having a KA!!! Its the infamous rattle from the plastic timing chain guides. The top ones are a piece of cake to remove, the lower ones are a bit more tricky but just as dooable.
AND NO YOU DONT HAVE TO REMOVE THE MOTOR TO DO THEM.... SIMPLY REMOVE THE CLUTCH FAN AND COVER, THAT WILL GIVE YOU ACCESS TO TO THE FRONT TIMING CHAIN COVER. PULL THE DISTRIBUTOR PULL OFF THE PULLEYS AND REMOVE THE COVER AND THATS IT.....
