ok i went to get my exahust fixed and they try robbing me but this is what got me they sed they cant do the work due to the cat they say due to emmisions its not legal to take it off now my question is i have a 96 and im under the impression that its not emmision testeing to this year or im i wrong, anyone?

96 still has emissions. 95 and older doesnt.

and yes, it is illegal to remove the catalytic converter. fines up to $10,000 i believe.

Usually you have to take an emissions test every 2 years if you have a 96 or newer. Unless it doesn't apply to all vehicles that were manufactured in 95. Or some fucking troll who doesn't want you to take emissions so he can fuck you over is stealing your mail.these can only be the explanations to this mystery

this is why i keep it 95 or under, my buddy just had to put his subaru back to stock

Just take it to a totally mexican muffler shop and they will redo your exhaust, remove cat and all for about $40. Thats what I did to my daily

Back when I was young and not reckless enough, I took my car to some hole in the wall exhaust shop, and the guy looked at me like crazy when I said I want the exhaust made from the catalytic converter back instead of straight from the header.
